muntik na umuwi na nakayapak

Yes, you read that right.

After lots of fun at our SMS "Bonding with the Kids" activity at St. La Salle Preschool, I realized that my right shoe was not quite okay...tumatawa na kasi. But well, I didn't mind. I went through with getting my physical exam, then running with AJ, Kuya Rocky, Ate Drei, Ate Carmel, and Francis to EGI. Then I went with Ate May to the LEAP class heads' GA. After which I realized that my shoe was not just snickering...belly laugh na talaga. After going to the tambayan to try to pound the shoe back into shape, I ended up going with Dan to U-mall in hopes of finding some footwear. Exactly when I entered U-mall...

....the heel of my shoe got left in the door.

Now I'm 120 pesos poorer, but I do have a new pair of flipflops...

REFRESH youth camp!

It was God's victory.

To Carmel, Olivia, Rhea, Anna, Patrick, Philip, and Jeff: Welcome to the YFC family!

To the service team/everyone who helped out: Tino, Arven, Drei, Ynah, AJ, Clar, Drew, Tinay, Anjo, James, Earl, Rodz, Rocky, RJ, Ron, Francis, Dan, Gayle, Marj, Geom, Kuya Marco, Kuya Caloy, Kuya Niki, Kuya Jai, Ate Laarni (mayroon ba akong nakalimutan?): Grabe, I'm really honored to have served with all of you. You all showed me what it means to show people how God really loves us all.

It really was an experience serving in this camp. I watched people grow, I watched God's hand at work. God's love really brings me to my knees again...can't help but feel so refreshed and happy. And after all of this, may God be praised!

the day before it all...

Wow, ang galing lang. Everything falling into place. Even when I thought things were taking a downturn...God stepped in and turned it around.

Thanks to Ate Ynah, Kuya Tino, AJ, Kuya Rocky, Kuya Niki, Dan, Rhea, Bryan, Geom, Ate Carmel, and Gayle for somehow helping me out (in your own special ways). You guys are such blessings. It's only now that I have claimed the grace to surrender.

In maybe fifteen hours, we will be on our way to youth camp. May this all be for God's glory. Amen.

YFC LIVELOUD!!!

Actually this was one of the highlights of my weekend. Friday was spent mostly in DLSU, running errands before youth camp training. Then there was bonding time with my YFC friends before getting home *just* in time for dinner.

Saturday: Clar and I went to Trinoma before two and ended up book shopping before meeting up with Kuya Tino, Kuya Rocky, Arven, Ate Carmel, Kuya Darwin, Ate Drei, AJ, and Gayle. Andun din si Drew at si Josh. We finally arrived at the Liveloud venue at around 4pm, just in time to get a tour of the place plus our assignments (naka-assign kami na mag-usher). I was posted near the middle of the ground floor of the auditorium...right near the camera. Best view actually. Even if I'm not in the pics with my DLSU friends. (I think only Charisse has a good pic of me).

Despite the craziness of having to deal with a crowd of around 3000 people, I had an awesome time. Astig na worship concert and really fun creatives competition. Nakakainspire talaga.

After Liveloud, overnight in my house. I don't think we got much sleep thanks to all the kakulitan and asaran. Good times, good times. Sige, ulitin natin. :D

Book quiz (got this from Ate Carmel)

You're One Hundred Years of Solitude!
by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Lonely and struggling, you've been around for a very long time. Conflict has filled most of your life and torn apart nearly everyone you know. Yet there is something majestic and even epic about your presence in the world. You love life all the more for having seen its decimation. After all, it takes a village.
Take the Book Quiz at the Blue Pyramid.

day 4: wow

Nakakawindang. That's the best way to describe this day. When I wasn't dealing with psychometrics, devpsych or physics, I was running to and from the YFC booth. Then there were the trips I had to make to Velasco Building to get my assistantship papers (at ginulat ba naman ako ni Dan, kumusta naman...) Then there was the SMS junior comm/officers meeting. Let's just say that I'm in for another really busy month.

I had fun in devpsych class. Buhay pa ang CLASIKO newsletter. I got to bond with my junior comm friends. And tambay time/booth manning was fun. I got to go on a food trip (salamat Kuya Rocky!) Sign ups are going very, very well. Clar and I were able to hitch a ride home with Tino. I'm going to Liveloud this Saturday. Wow. Wow.

Astig talaga ni God.

definitely one of those Mondays!

Somehow Monday manages to be one of the more amusing yet more tiring days of my week...

The day started off with organic chemistry, and Dr. Ragasa successfully overwhelming our overtaxed brains with a lecture on hybridization. AYOOKOO NAA! And it's only been the second meeting.

The start of booth manning: rigging up the booth in record time, dealing with signup sheets, and of course talking to my fellow students. Actually booth manning was one of the fun parts of the day, despite getting a nasty chill along the SJ walk.

Physics lab: open laboratory. I don't get it, actually. Then it was back to booth manning (or at times watching everyone's stuff while they went off to eat). Spent most of my break/free time fixing papers for camp and other necessities. Then it was off to social psychology class. At least that was interesting.

After-class is always the best part of the day. More stuff at the YFC booth: sign ups, and the usual fun that transpires when my favorite people drop by at the end of the day. Somehow, it never gets old. Everything from (watching) the guys try to put together a puzzle up to the joking and teasing always makes me smile. We also had worship today and reminders about tomorrow's booth manning.

I also got to update Kuya Marco about everything that was going on. So far, so good. God be praised!

youth camp planning

Sa lahat ng mga facilitator/gusto mag-serve as facilitator: Training is next week, on Friday. Let's meet in the tambayan at 12:50. Training ends at mga 5pm. :D

So today did not go quite according to plan, but it was good all the same. Spent most of the time with Kuya Tino, Kuya Arven, Ate Drei, Kuya Niki, AJ, Andrew, and Clar, just going over plans for the youth camp booth and the actual event.

God be praised: we have a theme now...REFRESH :D :D

praise God at last!!

Yes, at last we have a youth camp venue!

Today: Ocular trip with Kuya Tino, Kuya Rocky, AJ, and Ico. We were supposed to leave DLSU before ten in the morning, but we ended up eating breakfast, and getting forms for our booth manning before even getting to leave. After lots of talking and lots of traffic, we finally arrived in Tikling. Looks like we're going to have a great time this youth camp...

After accomplishing our ocular objective, we went back into town to have lunch at Tiendesitas. Food tripping to the max...(rice + sisig+ ensaladang mangga + liempo + squid + tuna), looking for cute dogs or strange animals in the pet stores, going windowshopping for jackets and other items...super fun bonding time.

Really wish I could watch "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with everyone tonight, but no.

Tomorrow...faci training...God please let this be a chance to glorify You

YOUTH CAMP!!!

Start:     Jan 23, '09
End:     Jan 25, '09
Location:     United Methodist Church, Tikling, Rizal (near Cainta and Antipolo)
YFC-DLSU will be holding its youth camp for the school year. Get to make friends, have fun, and know God in a different way. :D Sign ups are at SJ walk all of next week.

life is ever changing, and it's not my will, but His

New term, new life? Not really, and yet maybe so. In  less than 48 hours, so many things have happened to the point that I feel I've got the wind momentarily knocked out of me:

-Taking all my classes with my blockmates for the first time in what seems to be forever

-Realizing that "I am really majoring in BS-Psychology". This is the effect of taking so many major classes in one term.

-Learning that at least two people I know personally are now teaching at DLSU. Ohmigosh.

- Reunions with psych buddies and of course my ka-YFCs. So much fun, yet so much going on!

-Actually getting some of the preparations straight for the upcoming youth camp. Faci training is in MY house.

-Catching up with some of the people who've been like my big sisters: Noey and Ate Ynah.

-Attending worship for the first time this year.

It's been 2 days since the term started, and I've been put out of my comfort zone. I have to let go of some people, things and habits that have become my safety net. I have to dare to try some things, and to trust that God will make these things happen.

I used to think I was a little girl carrying big bags. However, I think God is trying to tell me, "Those bags aren't entirely yours to carry."

Again, the value of surrender.

alam mo na batang 90's ka kapag...

Favorite mo yung Sonic, Mario at Street Fighter at Tetris.

7. Nagwa-watusi ka kapag New Year kahit pinapagalitan ka ng nanay mo.

8. Meron kang sapatos na umiilaw yung swelas kapag iniaapak mo. Mas sikat kung iba-iba yung kulay.

9. Merong at least isang Chicago Bulls na shirt sa bahay nyo. Madalas number 23 pa yung nakalagay.

20. Sinasabi mo sa kaklase mo na “Liars go to hell” kapag tingin mo nagsisinungaling sya. ”Cross my heart, hope to die” kapag nangangako ka. “Period no erase” kapag gusto mo walang kumontra sayo.

30. Isa dito ay theme song mo: “I Swear” by All 4 One, “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes (Andsay, Hey ey ey ey ey ey. I said hey, What’s goin on!), “Zombie” by Cranberries.SONG NUN

31. Sumasayaw ka ng Macarena.

35. Tape pa ang uso, di CD or MP3 players. Pag gusto mo yung kanta kailangan tantyahin mo kung ilang seconds i-rewind yun para mabilis paulit-ulitin.

36. Kinakanta nyo dati sa school yung “Heal the World”, “Tell the World of His Love”, “Jubilee Song”, etc.

39. Sinubaybayan mo ang Ghost Fighter at ang Dragon Ball. Naging favorite mo si Eugene at si Goku.

40. Niloloko mo yung theme song ng Voltes V kasi di mo maintindihan yung theme song: ”Tato ni Ara Mina malaking cobra…”, “Boltes Payb lima sila, pumunta sa kubeta…”, ”…Kontra Bulate!”

Kami inyong ipaglaban! Sugod, sugod laban maskuman, ipaglaban nyo ang katarungan.. Sige, sige laban maskuman..”

43. Alam mo din yung “Ang Pulubi at ang Prinsesa” with Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban.

45. Batibot ang usong palabas. Akala mo nga mag-dyowa o mag-asawa sina Kuya Bodjie at Ate Sheena.

46. Alam mo yung tono ng pinausong kanta ng show na “ATBP.”: Isa.. dalawa-tatlo.. apat-lima.. anim-pito-walo.. syam-sampu… labingisa-labingdalawa… labingtatlo… labingapat-labinglima…

47. Napanood mo ang Batang X.

48. Sabay kayo nanonood ng yaya mo ng Marimar.

49. Nanonood ka ng kahit alin dito: “Okay Ka Fairy Ko”, “Oki Doki Doc”, “Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata”, “Palibhasa Lalake”, “Ober da Bakod”, at “Home Along Da Riles”.

51. Pinanood mo din yung “Villa Quintana”, “Esperanza”, “Anakarenina” atbp.

52. Mga love teams na nagpakilig sayo: Juday and Wowie. Jolina and Marvin.

53. Alam mo yung commercial ng Tender Juicy hotdog na ganito: “Dear diary, Carlo sat beside me today. He’s so cute! Sabi niya I’m pretty kaya lang I’m fat.”

54. Kinakanta mo yung “Thank God it’s Sabado, pati na rin Linggo…” at “Isa pa, isa pa, isa pang Chicken Joy”.

55. Nasa channel 2 pa ang Eat Bulaga at ang Mel and Jay.
