somehow this week can leave me thankful and breathless

Somehow the Spirit has a way of leading me to scenarios to either reach out or learn.

MONDAY: Yes, the aftermath of the Metrocon sunburn! ahaha! At least I was able to get through my schoolwork just fine (lectures, skit preparation, handling HCl of the concentrated sorts, impromptu report with Kits in PERSEF2) and attend worship.

TUESDAY: Praise God! I got a 3 in my majors midterm! I did not deserve that, but God let me have it. Prayer warrior for Arven's successful thesis defense. Then there was tambay time at lunch (during which I realized that I did look like a drunk). Then there was class to deal with (FILDLAR and CITIGOV), then a really great worship at 6pm... astig lang talaga

WEDNESDAY: Skit for TREDTWO....praise God na tapos na yan. Then another quiz in majors. Somehow I got through it. One to ones also with Rhea, Lulu (kahit saglit lang) and Gayle. Asar trip thanks to Dan, Paul, and Vlad. And I stayed again for worship---during which napaiyak talaga ako. I think I was just so wiped out from such an overwhelming three days. But thank God that somehow everything is ok...

RIGHT NOW: Surviving chem, presentations, and more....andami talaga....pero I think God will be really good today...as He always is.

eto na naman: can you name ten people

DO NOT READ THE WHOLE BULLETIN!!! JUST QUICKLY COPY AND PASTE. DON'T SPOIL IT! Name 10 people you can think of right off the top of your head. Don't read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 10 people. This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first. No cheating.♥

NONSTOP! YFC Metro Manila Conference 2008

What can I say? It was an outpouring of God's awesome grace.

Super thanks to my YFC-DLSU family: Mira, AJ, Kuya Tino, Kuya Marco, Ate Ynah, Dan, Karl, Kuya Arven, Rodz, Paul, Ate Carmel, Ate Olivia, Ate Drei, Kuya Darwin, James, Ico, Drew, Ate Regz, Kuya Niki, and of course my sister Clar. Thanks also to Dindi, Trisha, Ate Laarni, Ate Cy, Faith, Charisse, Kuya Jai and the rest of Central C campus based. I am so blessed to have shared this conference with you guys. Apart from talking to God through worship and from seeing His majesty through the sharings...I felt God's grace through being with all of you.

I tried things I never thought I'd do, sang out loud like it was the last praisefest I'd ever go to, jumped up and down under the blazing sun, laughed out loud, slept late and woke up early, loved and loved over and over again, learned new songs, bought a nice shirt, played habulan, had a one-to-one, and got to listen to my brothers and sisters during discussion groups. It was all worth it.

More than anything, I can claim God's promise and non-stop grace in my life.

midterms = GOD HELP ME!!!

Life  for the last few days: revolving around biopsych reviewers, chem  problems, SMS booth, sleepless nights, and a significant decrease in good cheer. I miss the people who make me laugh, and I miss the days when we had time to hang out. It's not like first term, when we were all addicted to Mafia. Haha. I super miss those tambay afternoons.

Today though:I had my chem and  biopsych tests. I KNOW I'm going to make it this time around. I am sooo happy despite the fact that coffee spilled over my bag, that yes, tests got to me...but the point is that GOD IS GOOD TODAY!!!

One more whole day left, and it's Metrocon time! YAY!!!

Again, I spent more time out of the classroom!!!

So this is how the day played out...

-My father offered to give me and my sis a ride going to DLSU. We all got stuck in traffic near Quirino Avenue, and as a result, were almost late for class!

-Straw game in TREDTWO. Hahaha! It was fun putting together the "girliest" tower of them all, but the result of the game was a further confirmation of a basic fact: we were meant to be CLA majors, not architects or engineers!!

-BIOPSYC exam...okay at least I know it was survivable.

-Another "super tambay" Wednesday: it all began when I got to the YFC tambayan only to find my dear brothers Dan and Dave studying. Of course not much studying was accomplished after I arrived--but not on my account!! After a while Kuya Tino, AJ, Clar, Ico, Paul, and Kuya Rocky all turned up. I also discovered that someone already started writing in the new YFC logbook. Lunch time, kulitan, cramming, reading, talking about Sylvester the black cat, up all the way up to 1pm when we had to part ways to get to class or do stuff.

-SMS booth: mostly sitting around, answering questions, earning curious glances at the Miguel Walk, bonding with my fellow officers Alennie, Ate May, Ate Apple, Charles, among several others. Getting a quick look at some of the promo materials for LUMINOUS. Talking about future activities. And yes, enduring the hot air over at that side of the school. I got to take a break just to run to the library to get stuff, and also to get merienda with Lara and Kuya Rocky.

-After class worship and the CBE-COS hh: I actually wasn't really planning to stay, but oh well. Got to see Kuya Tino, Kuya Rocky and Ico really goofing off--I wish we had the video cam!! Got to meet Moti, Tintin, and Bea (mga alaga ni Karl at ni Mira). Felt so much better after worship and attending/supporting the very short HH. It's like I found a spring in the desert that my week has been (at least how my prayer life has been for the week) Got to talk to my pards Dave about our CLA-CCS hh. Actually finished up my "tambay time" for the day with the same two people I started it with. Hahaha.

-Really hope that Wicket's epileptic spell for the month is over and done with. Poor doggo.

Amazing day. Astig ni God.

destressing with this music meme

Feel free to play, everyone. ; ). I got this from Alexa, by the way.

Pick ten songs with lyrics that especially attract you. Post only 4-6 lines from each song. It's your friend's list's job to guess the song and artist! Every time someone guesses correctly, put the names beside each number.

1. The same old heartbeat/fills the emptiness I have inside/. And I know that you can't fight love so I won't complain/Cause why would I stop the fire that keeps me going on? (guessed by Ate Issa)

2. Sa daloy ng dagat, mamunga ang pag-ibig at payapa/Ihatid sana ng hangin/ang aking panalangin/Harinawa.

3. Will you join in our crusade?/Who will be strong and stand with me?/Somewhere beyond the barricade/is there a world you want to see? (guessed by Alexa)

4. You hold the earth in Your command/You are the rock on which I stand/And as I live each day/I'll follow You...

5. Lucky I've got strong legs like my mother/To run for cover when I need it/And these eyes are for you, no other/They'll be cryin' when you're leaving...

6. It's like rain on your wedding day/It's a free ride when you've already paid/It's good advice that you just didn't take/And whoever thought, it figures. (guessed by AJ)

7. Lumuha man ako'y walang magagawa/Hindi kaya ng luha ibalik ang nawala/Limutin man kita'y, di ko magagawa/Hindi kaya ng alak lusawin ang inyong mukha...

8. You gave me hope when I couldn't reach/You gave me faith cause you believed/I'm everything I am/Because you loved me. (guessed by AJ)

9. You've used up all your coupons/And all you've got left is me/But somehow I'm full of forgiveness/So I guess it's meant to be...(guessed by AJ(

10. Desperate for changing/Starving for truth/Closer where I started/Chasing after you...(guessed by AJ)

Lesson 1: There is no right answer to the question "Are you easily distracted?"

More lessons I learned today (OUT of the classroom, mind you).

- Having a cold can only force one into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation--I'll feel sicker if I study in the aircon library/conservatory, but staying out in the tambayan does not do wonders for my attention span.

- Never fall asleep in public, not if you value your reputation or at least your ability to remain photogenic.

- The logbook will eventually need glue. Accept that.

- Knocking is not enough to get into the LAPIS.

- Never be overconfident in studying biopsychology.

- There's such a thing as having to ask the tough questions in order to learn (Dan, thanks for that. I really had to reread the book after you were through trying to help me out).

- I HAVE to keep my temper under control (sorry to all of the people I yelled at today).

- Japanese horror has its own way of being disturbing.

- Worship is always a blessing.

- Regardless of circumstances, praise God always (Kuya Tino, thanks for that short discussion. Matigas lang kasi ang ulo ko).

- It's one thing to have the academic smarts, but you need streetsmarts as well. Hence the existence of PERSEF.

- Getting a terror prof can only make you a survivor. Hellooo scary majors!

- It's one thing to know God's promise for your life, but to claim it is another question.

nagkamali.....nakatulog ako sa tambayan!!!

So herre's the continuation of my malas...

Sick dog again, lots of work, still not much closer to resolving my problems. Minseun's birthday today also. Chem lab today was pretty  interesting when things weren't getting stressful. Better luck to all of us next time. I tried to study at the tambayan. Usual chaos (me getting tamad, Dan telling me to study, the rest trying to watch horror flicks on the laptop so on and so forth...). Helped a bit at the SMS booth. Made the mistake of falling asleep at the tambayan when Mira had a camera. UH-OH!!!

Tonight is going to be busy. Tonight, I really need to  get out of "petiks" mode and get to work Ang hirap maging seryoso.

bakit gising pa ako??

Sagot: ako ay isang estudyante + misyonaryo + research assistant. Bow.

Okay, so I didn't do much over the weekend. Didn't have much of the strength to do anything yesterday or today. I think my circadian rhythm (day-night activity pattern) is getting a little messed up. Right now I'm surviving on extra-strong coffee. I really wish I could take back all the times I was whining last term about lack of sleep. This is seriously a humbling experience.

Hmm...as of 1:00 am I have done 8 and a half hours out of the required time I need to log in for the term. Okay, so I have er...six hours left? Eek! I really have to finish up my work before October 22 (that's NINE days from now). Otherwise I am going to be in terrific trouble.

But no regrets this term, so far. I claim that:

-I will not just pass, but I'll get a decent grade in PSYCHM2

-My assistantship will work out well

-I will love my lower hh

-I will also learn to get on better with my upper hh

-I will still be active both in YFC and SMS

-My prayer life will get stronger

-All the things I have on my agenda: CITIGOV and TREDTWO community service + YFC households + SMS activities and more will work out.

- I will do well in my major subjects!!

- I will learn to let God and let go.

SMS junior comm meeting + YFC prayer meeting + POPS concert

Sa mga psych major dito, please read the first part of the entry that deals with SMS :) Org natin lahat ito. Sa mga YFC, feel free to scroll down (unless you are also a psych major...)

SMS meeting was okay...bonding with my fellow junior comm members, discussing schedules. Important dates now to take note:

October 13 to 17- SMS booth on Miguel Walk! Order your t-shirts, sign up for activities, and get annoucements here. Daan kayo!

November 7: LuMINous...itong party ay ang tie-up ng SMS with ECES. This event will be held in Fiamma, (that's in Makati). More details to come later.

November 27-28: PAPJA convention. DLSU is hosting it this year, and it's highly likely that our major profs will ask us to attend. We need volunteers to help with the activity.

***wakas muna dito ang psych***

YFC prayer meeting: God's victory ulit! Mga newbies na pumunta, puro mga ka-household ko! Special mentions to Rhea, Josh, Junee, and Pert! Fun yung game, at sobrang astig ung talk ni Kuya Rocky at sharings ni Ate Regz and Drew. Bonding with my fellow YFCs. Kudos and thank you to my fellow execoms, the graduates, and the rest who helped out and attended. Mira, ang galing ng AVP mo.

I really needed that talk. I know I was having a certain issue already, and I knew what I was supposed to do about it, but I was too stubborn to care or listen even when I was being advised about the solutions. I needed to really cry and talk to God during worship to know that He won't abandon me or leave me alone in my mess.

POPS recital: Congrats to Martin, Minseun, and the rest of the orchestra for the amazing performances! I loved most of the numbers. I got to go home with Martin and Tito Vince...nilibre rin ako sa dinner...yayness itong araw na ito!

Ang galing ni God...SOBRA!!!

24 hours ng asar...

I am serious.

All the way up from last night, beginning at the Yuchengco Building and ending well, in the tambayan.

So I suppose I lived down last night very well, and tried to get a little work done. The result of staying up late: being the one to walk a very hyperactive Wicket, and also being the one who wakes up from getting weird dreams all night.

Chem test today: one of the things that redefines hatred for numbers. Specifically thermochemical equations.

Labpsych: We swore we would finish quickly. That did not happen, what with the muddle of sources regarding arteries and nerves. I felt so sick after chem that I did not need to touch my palate too hard to make me gag (testing vagus nerve). At least discussion got funny with the girls.

Lunch time: I never learn my lessons--- till now, I say "WHA-T?", draw my brains to look like cabbages, always end up finishing my sentences with high notes, end up with lettuce on my teeth, and yes, people notice. Hahaha. Bonding time with AJ, Clar, and Paul, and later with Miwa, Dan, Kuya Tino, and Ate Ynah. Then later fixing up logistics stuff with Kuya Niki and Kuya Arven. Yay! Halos ayos na! Also talked with Nikki Sindiong, Jed, and Faye. Wow, more ka-households!! Catching up too with Justine. Bonding time with the froshies Geom, Erica, Fer, and Ico.

FILDLAR: Since I was babysitting Pablo + a tape recorder, it took me quite some time to get to the Andrew Building. I ran into Asha in the lobby, and we both ended up taking the stairs. Big mistake. At least Sir Cayannes' lecture was worth it.

CITIGOV: Planning a project + cold room = not fun. And yeah, what was it with being asked to just "sit there?" Jade, you SHOULD explain it to me sometime!

After class: Worship as always, but things got really funny and out of hand before that. And I wonder...who thought up "punishments" 1 and 3 in the logbook? Not happening, kapatid.

Still, I know you love me. And I love you guys anyway.

oh of all the things to do!

Today was a busy day, considering I was planning to spend a lot of it in the tambayan...

TREDTWO: Pretty interesting. I love discussing morality.

BIOPSYC: The discussion re: bodily sensation and pain. Kudos to Jade for the comic relief today. ; )

Lunchtime: Spent a little time with Clar, Niki, Ico, Kuya Rocky, and AJ before going back to the tambayan to finish homework (when Dan and Teddy weren't teasing me). Then after lunch, I waited around and did a little studying or writing with Trisha. Also finished up some logistics work. I also got to hang about a bit with a lot of my fellow YFCs (Tino, Miwa, Arven, Drew, Fer, Arianne, Rona, Carissa, Rodz, Kuya Mark, Josh). Not many people for a Wednesday, surprisingly....

I hope that the Friday prayer meeting goes well!!!

20. When someone says "I love you", and means it.

did today just happen? (stories and realizations)

This is the day as I best remember it:

1. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry when the chem test got postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

2. Somehow realizing I misplaced my sense of direction as far as navigating gyri and sulci (that's folds and fissures for non-psych majors) in the brain is concerned.

3. A long discussion with Minseun, Andria, and Cecillia all about schoolmates and moving.

4. Arriving in the tambayan just in time to join AJ, Miwa, Dan, Ico, and Tino for lunch at Flaming Wings. This really had to be one of the best parts of the day, if not THE best part. I laughed so hard that I was actually in danger of choking on my drink. I really love you guys.

5. Tambay time with Niki, Arven, Dave, and Ate Olivia. Going to the LSPO and laughing so hard when I learned that getting an LCD for Friday might actually be more complicated than I thought.

6. FILDLAR discussions with Sam, Kim, Asha, and the rest of the group.

7. CITIGOV with my blockmates. Thanks to JL for helping us refine our project proposal.

No after-school tambay thanks to not so favorable weather + loads of work. Hay. Maybe I should've...oh well...tomorrow naman ulit...

Somehow I realized that with a lot of prayer, with a lot of grace and strength from God, with enough love...I can somehow face even the seemingly impossible. I can forgive. I can ask to be forgiven. I can laugh in the face of adversity. I can let go of expectations and instead focus on making hopes come alive.

I actually stand tall when I am on my knees. Thank You.

learning curve day

Another "Things I Learned" post

1. Never get the back-of-the-classroom seats during major classes. You might fall asleep

2. It never hurts to recalculate, particularly when you have empirical evidence that your mathematical skills are substandard.

3. I CAN survive chem lab without ruining my clothing

4. Murphy's Law still applies in DLSU

5. Abstracts are not always a research assistant's best friend.

6. Projective tests in psychology really do have more than one interpretation

7. Previous aggravations aside, I miss certain people all the same (where were you all day?!)

8. Shorthand does not work in a lab manual

9. Scarfing down ice cream before class may not always be a good idea

10. When there's a will....you can get a locked door open.

11. There will always be ways to outsmart the bureaucracy, and ways the bureaucracy will get you. Even if the matter at stake is as simple as a projector.

12. There is always a way to get an immense amount of work done.

13. Given enough time and people...you can have a household

14. It always hurts worse when the person you are at odds with is someone you love very much, more than if it was your worst enemy.

an apology from an Atenean

This is an apology from Charles tiu, the brother of the very famous Chris Tiu, regarding the offensive behavior of the Ateneans during their bonfire last tuesday... a big thanks to a La Salle alumna.

coulditbe wrote today at 10:08 AM

Charles , I am a concerned mother, an alumna of DLSU-M and I have a son who 's an Atenean . He s in 4th yr high at AHS ..He s been with the Ateneo for 12 years now and is bent on pursuing his College in Ateneo of course. I am just bothered about the Ateneo Bonfire with the name of our Lasalle players on The Bonfire wood. He might have seen this during your celebration and might give him the wrong signal as to this being THE ATENEO WAY of celebrating your victory party/your championship. I hope you do write an article about this maybe or probably condemn this atrocious/improper conduct. I want my son to grow up as GOOD an Atenean as you are with the right values. Thank you Charles. from cevcarolv@pldtdsl.net CEV Dlsu- 1982

Hi, i must agree that i too am very bothered about the names of the DLSU players appearing on the bonfire wood. Apparently some Ateneo alumni did this. ( i heard they did it too nung 2002 but there were no pictures so we don't really know). I must say it took a big part of my joy from this championship away from me. I have always learned that we must be humble in victory and God didn't make us win to do this. Rest assured, the action of a few people do not reflect the whole Ateneo community and i strongly believe that the others had know prior knowledge of this. The school will be issuing an official statement of apology to the DLSU. It wouldn't be fair to generalize the actions of some Ateneans to the whole school just like it wouldn't be fair to do that to DLSU. There will always be those who deviate from the norm and there is nothing we can do about it no matter what kind of education they receive. I sincerely apologize on behalf of the Ateneo community to the whole DLSU community.

*Im very happy that finally an Atenean admitted their mistake even just for this one because it really affected the entire La Salle community. I know there are still Ateneans who continue to offend us but at least one has already apologized and it should be the start of the whole process..

ANIMO LA SALLE!

*WHOEVER GETS TO READ THIS ITS BEST IF YOU POST IT AS WELL SO THAT OTHER LASALLIANS CAN SEE THIS.. IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP TO OUR COMMUNITY. THANK YOU.

Friday on Taft

Had to do everything that wasn't exactly related to school. Started off the day at the tambayan with my sis, Kat D, Tino, and Ron. Then I went off to go do my research work, before scooting back at lunch for service meeting with the execom + first CCS-CLA household. Pretty small attendance, but hey, it was pretty okay for the first lower household I've had in years. I hope more people can go next time.

My partner Dave practically treated me, AJ, and Tino to lunch at KFC before we went back to DLSU to fix up documentations/logistics. *Have* to get back to campus tomorrow to fix stuff/logistics papers for our upcoming prayer meeting. Anyway, I thought I was gonna end up going home alone, but I ended up with AJ on the train, then Niki and Clar on the bus.

Not what I expected for this day, but blessed all the same.

20 things...

List 20 things you want to say to certain people but you know you never will. Don't say who they are.

1. We really don't agree on many things anymore, but I appreciate how you still hear me out and are always there for me in your own way. Thanks so much for everything.

2. If there was one thing you taught me that will stick in my memory, it was precisely just who not to open my heart to. Thanks for the memories, even if they weren't so great.

3. There's a certain note of yours that I keep, that never fails to make me smile. Even if sometimes it seems that I don't really appreciate your jokes, but really, I do.

4. Maybe it seems as if I am always freaking out, contradicting you, or being a complete pain every school day, but in reality I actually appreciate your being a big brother to me and your telling me to keep praying and waiting. And it's helped me a lot, more than you know.

5. Of all our old ka-households, you were the last one I stopped keeping in touch with. Now you're pretty much thousands of miles away, and I wish I could have talked to you last ILC  just to catch up with you.

6. You tell me that I should stress out less and that more people have worse things to stress out about. I know you're going through a lot and so are a lot of other people, but well, it's not as if you understand completely what I'm going through either. So please don't judge me like that.

7. We never catch each other online, do we? I miss you sooo much, and I wish I could get the entire barkada together again. I hope it won't be years before we do.

8. You still have my copy of Canterbury Tales!!

9. Despite everything that happens to us each day, you're one of my simple joys in life.

10. I really wish I'll always be a good ate to you.

11. Am I being a good sister to you? I know I've had my failings, but I really want to do better because I love you that much.

12. To tell you the truth, I respected your trying to guide me as a writer. But there are just some things that I won't do out of principle. So that's why I left.

13. Maybe there's a reason why you're back in my life. It's going to be an interesting journey for us now that we're in the same household.

14. Age differences aside, you're my ate no matter what.

15. You were right about one thing: there was a lot more in store for me. Did God let you have a good look into the four years that would unfold after that conversation?

16. I don't get you actually. But you're one of the brothers I love very much.

17. I wish I hugged you harder, sis.

18. There are times when I want to say that I'll never understand what you're doing, and that I want no part in it. But I remember you're just as much as an idealist as I am, and that yes, if our places were switched, I'd be just as passionate about my service as you are.

19. Last I heard, you were so different from the girl who I last saw on graduation day. And I like that change. Thanks for showing me that.

20. Bad Timing. Enough said.
